Description
The IT Analyst 3/Business Intelligence position reports to The Business Intelligence Assistant Director in Computer Services. The individual will assist with researching, developing, testing, distributing, and maintaining reporting and self-service applications.
Incumbent of this position will obtain, review, and analyze data that will assist in making recommendations to improve the effectiveness of key processes in the organizational divisions and operating groups and joining the disparate data sources owned by those groups. Data is received in different formats and from various sources, and applicants must be able to provide the most valuable product and service to the end user. Creating and maintaining technical documentation such as: designing, testing, deployment, and distribution are crucial duties.
Regular attendance is required to perform the functions of this position.
Incumbent will maintain a customer-oriented awareness in acknowledging and responding to needs as they occur that customer satisfaction is met at all times.
95% Essential Position Functions & Duties
The incumbent works closely and collaboratively with other business development team members in developing recommendations to improve the effectiveness of departmental processes. Incumbent conducts thorough problem analysis in respect to technical systems and applications. Responsible for documenting findings and proposing problem resolution alternatives. The incumbent must maintain current working knowledge of all installed application systems. Job functions also includes meeting with individuals throughout the organization to collect specifications for future applications and translating those specifications into tasks with deliverable products.
Examples of work include:
- Completes projects with minimal supervision
- Maintains client relationships and communication
- Develops, tests, and maintenance of QlikView applications, dashboards, and reports
- Collects, evaluates, and analyzes data that will help in developing recommendations
- Conducts training sessions with LSUHSC-S end users when applicable
- Provides technical advice and assistance to end users
- Data source preparation and connection
- Ability to use analytic expressions and perform intermediate programming
- Identifies, researches, and proposes solutions to upper-level management
- Comprehends business data and requirements to create BI reports

Qualifications
The applicant must meet the following:
- Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of analytical experience
- Technical Skills required: Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (specifically Excel), reporting software, business intelligence tools, and an understanding of various database software (T-SQL, Oracle DB, Microsoft Access, etc.) ETL procedure, analytical expressions, and data visualization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with QlikView, Power BI, or Tableau
- Experience with Remote Desktop and file structuring/organization
- Experience with higher education and healthcare systems
- Epic certified (Revenue Data Model or Clarity Data Model)
