What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Manager position at LSU HEALTH SCIENCES CENTER-SHREVEPORT?
This employee reports to the Director for the Office for Student and Community Engagement and is responsible for developing and implementing community outreach opportunities and professional development seminars for faculty, staff, students, residents, and fellows. This Senior Program Manager will collaborate with the Director and Program Coordinator to provide services, resources, and opportunities to enhance the recruitment and retention of students with health-oriented interests.
Regular attendance is required to perform the functions of this position.
Incumbent will maintain a customer-oriented awareness in acknowledging and responding to needs as they occur that customer satisfaction is met at all times.
Essential Position Functions & Duties
45% Community Engagement and Experimental Learning Programs
- LSU Health Shreveport Cultural Festival, Undergraduate Research Apprenticeship Program (UGRAP), Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) Workshop, American Medical College Application service (AMCAS) Workshop.
20% Student Retention and Programming
- Maintain the list of educational resources requested by students- Course Achievement Program (CAP).
- Coordinate the Student Emotional Engagement (SEE) activity.
- Identify facilitators for college readiness workshops.
10% Professional Development Programming
- Identify facilitators for Employee Professional Development Seminars, Student Development, and co-curricular activities.
- Coordinate all professional development training courses designed to improve campus-wide workplace efficiency and student achievement.
- Coordinate all Unconscious Bias Training per Administrative Directive 2.6.12
- Adding, writing, ability to pull literary reviews/
- Creates an online registration process for all departments interested in Student and Community Engagement events and activities.
5% Administrative and Management
- Scheduling meetings with the AVC to discuss program or personal goals and objectives.
- Send student satisfaction survey at the end of meetings
- Maintain an accurate list of attendees for assigned programs/initiative to support future budgeting requests.
- Communicate all department activities to the Medical and Strategic Communications department.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and understand how the department could improve (Quality Improvement Metrics).
- Work with the communication department to design promotional material for assigned programs and initiatives coordinated by the Office of Student and Community Engagement, and PeopleSoft processes.
- Execute vendor and professional services contracts.
5% Data Collection
- Upload employee and student engagement data on the department’s shared drive.
- Upload professional development data on the department’s shared drive.
- Collect all unconscious bias training data outcomes.
- Create, manage and disseminate assigned program surveys.
- Maintain accurate college and career readiness program data and assist in analytics requests by the AVC of Student and Community Engagement.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen and/or scale college and career readiness programs, as needed.
- Collaborate with other LSU Health Shreveport business units on assigned tasks, as needed.
5% Data Evaluation
- Prepare a draft of the executive summary for each activity for review with by the AVC.
- Maintain a final draft of the executive summaries for each event/activity.
5% Fiscal Responsibilities
- Work with the AVC for Student and Community Engagement to prepare the annual budget.
- Attend monthly business managers’ meetings.
- Review operational expenditures and reconcile the budget.
- Fiscal Understanding and creating excel worksheets.

Qualifications
Applicant must meet one of the following qualifications:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Experience: 5 years in program development in an academic setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in public health, Education, Business Administration Public Administration with a concentration in Administration of Health or Healthcare Administration and 2 years of work experience at an higher education institution.
