What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Security Student Worker position at LSUHSC?
Under supervision of the Department of Information Technology and IT Security Manager, the incumbent in this position will be a part of a critical team providing a broad array of IT Security related support and solutions to the Health Sciences New Orleans’s faculty, staff, and students.
The incumbent will perform the following specific examples of work:
35% - Learn complex security and identity management systems, and able to complete various tasks on those systems. Requires efficiency working with computer systems, servers, and applications.
20% - Provide IT support and complete tasks related to IT Security requests. Strong communication skills and the ability to learn and adapt are essential. Knowledge, experience, and general understanding of Windows or Linux operating systems, Microsoft Office products, and other common office applications is required.
20% - Installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of IT security systems, services, and applications. Monitoring, evaluating, and responding to various security systems’ notifications and alerts. This requires careful attention to details, along with responsible and sensible use of administrative privileges.
20% - Documentation, development of knowledgebase articles, policies, and procedures. Requires the ability to produce and maintain documentation, training material, policies, procedures, practices, and walkthroughs.
5% - Other duties as assigned.
- The candidate must be a student majoring in Computer Science or a related technology field.
