Job Description:
LT Leon Associates is currently seeking to hire a full-time Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) to assist survey crews in collecting field data for engineering and construction projects. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and experience working within technical teams.
The LSIT will work under the guidance of a Professional Land Surveyor to conduct various survey projects that may include: rivers/streams, wetlands, conservation, transportation (roads, trails, transit, aviation, and rail), pipelines, and facilities.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
· Produce control, boundary, topography, ALTA, right of way, hydrographic, and construction surveying services.
· Search legal records, survey records, and land titles to obtain information about property boundaries.
· Calculate geographic positions from survey data, property lines and other characteristics of terrain.
· Perform utility research and create stake out points
· Perform construction staking and as-built surveys.
· Operate survey-related software.
· Coordinate with office staff members, clients, and other key stakeholders.
· Communicate effectively with clients, engineers, project managers, and regulatory agencies.
· Operate and maintain survey vehicles.
· Document work performed and prepare any required daily reports.
· Read and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
· Calibrate, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain survey equipment.
· Calibrate, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain hydrographic survey equipment, including single-beam sonar, jonboat, canoe, and kayak.
· Perform field data collection for aerial imagery, LiDAR and other remote sensing data.
· Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· Associate’s degree in Survey or Civil Engineering and 4 years of survey experience.
or
· Bachelor’s degree in Survey or Civil Engineering
· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
· Current Survey-in-Training license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
· Must be able to lift and carry survey equipment (up to 50 lbs.).
Skills:
· Proficient with Trimble robotic total station and GPS equipment (Preferred).
· Knowledge of quality, safety, and regulatory standards in surveying.
· Strong communication skills.
· Strong organizational and analytical skills.
· Relevant computer skills preferred – AutoCAD Civil3D, Microstation/Geopak, and ArcGIS.
