Definition:The academic librarian will be a key partner and advocate in co-creating equitable library services, spaces, collections, policies, procedures, and best practices for incarcerated and justice-impacted students, as well as students from traditionally marginalized backgrounds.Representative Duties:Perform face-to-face and online librarian duties collaboratively, efficiently, and effectively to support student access and usage of Library & Learning Services, including reference and research assistance, circulation, cataloging, collection development, usage analytics, and library instruction.Develop, create, conduct, and assess classroom instruction sessions, workshops, and online learning resources, in areas such as information, media, and data literacy; critical thinking and communication skills; and academic and applied research skills.Work closely with the Rising Scholars Program (RSP), instructors, administrators, and correctional staff to identify, implement, improve, and assess library resources and services for incarcerated and justice-impacted students.Facilitate positive library and learning experiences for students in all modalities (e.g., face-to-face, online, hybrid, correspondence, virtual enhanced learning).Collaborate with disciplinary faculty, departments, student services, Rising Scholars Program, and correctional staff to increase access and usage of library resources and services.Support the integration of library resources and services into campus and correctional learning management systems as appropriate, to increase student access and usage.Perform best practices related to the adoption, adaptation, and creation of Open Education Resources (OERs).Work creatively and collaboratively to promote teamwork, diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusiveness within the library and the campus.Commit to examining and adapting relational and instructional practices to engage and support various groups of historically underserved students.
