Responsibilities
A Commercial Loan Officer is responsible for evaluating, authorizing, and/or recommending approval of commercial loans. This position will handle all types of commercial lending, but will have a focus on C&I (commercial and industrial) lending. Commercial Loan Officers will provide guidance to customers on different types of loans and credit options that are available, as well as the terms of those services. Types of lending to commercial customers may include loans for land, equipment, facilities, operating loans, and more. This position entails collecting and thoroughly analyzing applicant tax information, financial statements, credit histories, collateral, and more to determine financial status and will negotiate credit terms, such as costs, loan repayment methods, and collateral specifications. A strong sales and business development background will be crucial within this position.
Commercial Loan Officers compute payment schedules, review and update credit and loan files, locate prospects, market bank products to individuals and businesses, visit commercial properties and clients, review loan agreements to ensure they are complete and accurate according to policy. This position will submit or present loan packages to Credit Analysts and a Senior Loan Committee for recommendations and approvals, or may approve loans within specified limits or refer to management for special approvals, and will confer with Loan Processors and Loan Support staff during the underwriting process.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience comparable or lending related position at a financial institution
- Strong connection to the Metro or Norwalk and surrounding area
- Demonstrated knowledge and success in C&I lending as well as other types of commercial lending
- Some experience in Small Business Administration (SBA) lending
- Ability to listen to customer requests and process efficiently and accurately, in a timely and professional manner
- Ensure new clients and customers are connected to other individuals and resources they may require
- Cross-sell appropriate bank services and obtain loan client deposit accounts
- Ability to multi-task and handle a multitude of accounts and clients at all times
- Ensure compliance and follow all established policies, procedures, State and Federal regulations
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to operate Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Analytic and thorough knowledge of financials and credit packages
- Knowledge, experience, and interest in commercial banking procedures and the ever-changing commercial industry
Desired
- Resides within a 20 mile radius of our Norwalk location
- Involvement or desire to be involved in community or civic organizations related to field in or surrounding Norwalk community
- Experience in Jack Henry core systems, Laser Pro loan origination system, Moody's underwriting platform
- Minimum of an Associate's Degree in a related field
Additional Info
- At-Will, Full-Time position based on 40 hours per week. All Loan Officers are scheduled to work Saturdays on a rotating schedule - when scheduled on a Saturday (3 hours), compensating time off is given during the week worked
- Schedule is 8AM-4:30PM M-F; 8AM-11AM Sat
- Travel: Some
