What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy District Clerk - Scanning Clerk position at Lubbock County?
- Scan and record court records
- Retrieve scanned image
- Review final orders to ensure accuracy
- Review documents to be scanned for accuracy of labeling
- Scan large volumes of medical records, clerk records and other records retained by the courts
- Verify number of pages and number of documents while batch scanning
- Backup filing in juvenile, adoption, and tax records maintained in the central office
- Assist with sorting of scanned documents
- Other duties as may be assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Computer data entry experience, customer service experience required.
- Must have knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, modern office equipment including computer software, filing systems.
- Must be able to type or keyboard data entry at a rate of 35 net words per minute.
- Must have knowledge and skills to perform basic math principles.
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.
- Must be able to prioritize tasks to be performed.
- Must be able to work independently in the absence of supervision.
- Must be able to respond appropriately and professionally to requests and inquiries from the general public and courthouse personnel.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations and procedures applicable to job duties assigned.
- Must be able to read and understand manuals, instructions and documents.
- Must be able to analyze various situations and determine best solution within authority delegated.
- Must be able to follow established policies and procedures as set forth in the Lubbock County Employee Handbook and the Lubbock County District Clerk’s Office.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift 25 pounds. Must be able to stand, walk, kneel and/or bend to perform essential functions. Must be able to reach, grip, and use fine dexterity to operate a computer, office equipment and handle/manipulate papers. Must be able to push and pull objects. Must be able to flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially at the knees. Must be able to rotate upper trunk to the left or right while sitting or standing. Must be able to place arms above, at or below shoulder height. Must have use of visual and depth perception. Must have speech, hearing, and visual acuity necessary to operate computer, office equipment, and file documents and court shucks.
