Qualifications :
Education / Certification :
- Preferred : Bachelor's degree in social work or equivalent. Minimum : High school diploma with a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or related field. If applicant does not have an acceptable credential or certification, it must be obtained within 18 months from hire date.
- Skills in public and human relations
- Public speaking skills
- Community resources knowledge
- Ability to deal with pre-school children, parents, school officials, and the public
- General office skills
- Computer knowledge
- Typing rate of 35 w.p.m.
Job Goal :
The role of the Family Support Specialist is to help families attain goals. The primary goals are to educate families on how to access community resources, to increase each family member's involvement in their children's education, and to help each family become a functional unit within the community.
