Job Title: Coordinator, Agri-STEM Center Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Primary Purpose
Provide leadership in the design and development, implementation and management of the Agri-STEM center. Serve as the administrator for the center which includes all duties of a principal. Serve as a liaison between the high school campuses and the center. Collaborate with other district level staff in selecting agricultural science curriculum and course offerings. Participate in the hiring process for all district Agricultural Science teachers. Coach all district Agricultural Science teachers. Assist with recruitment of students and development of programs. Oversee all facilities at the center.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree
Special Knowledge/Skills
Thorough understanding of secondary school operations
Thorough understanding of Agriculture programs
Ability to plan and manage a budget
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to develop relationships with higher education, state agencies, agriculture industry,
community groups, non-profit organizations, and stock show professionals
Ability to supervise employees and establish and maintain effective working relationships with
executive management, campus principals, campus counselors, and outside organizations
Experience
Three years recent experience as a classroom teacher in agriculture
Demonstrated history of success in a variety of career development events and leadership development events
Administrative/leadership experience considered
Major Responsibilities And Duties
Instructional Management
Supervise teachers, custodians, farm manager, clerical personnel and others as assigned
Working Conditions
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. Occasional district wide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours

Major Responsibilities And Duties
Instructional Management
- Encourage and support development of innovative instructional programs and help teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate
- Promote the use of technology in the teaching/learning process
- Work directly with teachers to ensure effective instructional strategies are implemented
- Identify opportunities for increased participation in Leadership Development events and Career Development events.
- Participate in development and evaluation of agriculture programs
- Promote a positive, caring climate for learning
- Promote opportunities for all students to participate in Leadership Development events and
- Be sensitive and fair with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Conduct employee performance appraisals and conferences.
- Oversee the interviewing, selection and orientation of new staff in conjunction with the CTE Executive Director
- Conduct professional growth and development of teachers
- Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment
- Supervise all operations of the center including facilities
- Help plan daily school activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules
- Supervise and monitor student attendance and work with attendance clerk on follow-up investigations
- Work with CTE Executive Director and faculty to compile annual budget based on documented program needs
- Oversee the requisition of supplies, textbooks, and equipment
- Oversee inventory; maintain records; and verify receipts for materials
- Develop safety and security campus plan and conduct safety and security practice activities
- Coordinate transportation, custodial, and other support services
- Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and board policy
- Ensure that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods
- Communicate effectively with students and staff and student discipline is appropriate and equitable
- Help to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior
- Ensure school rules are uniformly observed
- Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers
- Supports, coordinates, and advises student activities including stock shows, center events, FFA program activities
- Articulate the center’s mission to the community and solicit support in realizing mission
- Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs
- Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement
- Support and align work with the mission, vision, and beliefs of the district
- Follow and support board policies in areas of related responsibility
- Ensure district resources are managed effectively to maximize resources for student learning
- Share in the development and implementation of district plans
- Model integrity, work ethic, and professionalism as a role model for students
