Community Connections Trainer
Develops opportunities for individual(s) and/or group(s) to connect to their community through assessment and exploration of areas of ability, interest, and skill. Connects individuals to community settings and provides support in the setting including specific skill training, adjustment to the environment, identifying and developing natural supports, and modeling appropriate behavior, work skills and social interaction.
This position does require evening and weekend hours on a regular basis.
Facilitates interaction and/or communication between individual(s) and other community members in order to enhance integration. Utilizes fading techniques to withdraw staff and support services when appropriate.
Assists with planning, developing, promoting, and implementing recreational activities, Special Olympics sports/league, recruitment of volunteers, travel training, as well as other events and activities that further community integration and employment for the individuals we support. Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships that include supporting and consulting with community members, employers, providers, volunteers, other professionals, families, and residential staff. Complies with all applicable rules, regulations, laws and Board policies and procedures.
VII. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES:
-High school diploma or GED.
-One (1) year teaching or training experience within one of the following: 1) a community based setting 2) an integrated volunteer worksite 3) school setting, and at least one (1) year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities required.
-Valid driver's license
-This position requires evening and weekend hours on a regular basis
