This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, has strong problem-solving skills, and enjoys working in a manufacturing environment. In this role, you develop and improve the composition of products, troubleshoot and find solutions to issues in formulation processes, such as stability problems or production scale-up issues. A Formulation Chemist at Lucas Milhaupt supports the product development activities for our Formulated product line. This includes brazing and soldering, pastes, fluxes and flux coated materials for the metal joining industry.

How Would You Accomplish This?
- Promote Safety as the Number One Priority of all Lucas Milhaupt employees.
- Design and conduct pre-formulation, formulation development, process development, process optimization and scale-up
- Perform appropriate performance tests to determine our product is suitable for proposed application.
- Strong knowledge of DOE and Rheology principles such as:
- Preparation of material samples for customer evaluation and maintenance of accurate logbook.
- Modifying existing products as per customer requirements
- Assisting Process Engineer on material bills, routings and quality control to scale up for production on new and modified products.
- Research and select appropriate raw materials (e.g., active ingredients, excipients, solvents) for product formulation.
- Conduct experiments to evaluate the stability, efficacy, and safety of formulations.
- Modify existing formulations to improve performance, stability, or cost-effectiveness.
- Troubleshoot formulation-related issues such as instability, incompatibility, or poor product performance.
- Ensure that formulations comply with all relevant safety and regulatory guidelines, including environmental, health, and safety standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What Are We Looking For?
- Safety - Ability to perform in manufacturing environment and comply with safety expectations including wearing of PPE. Ability to lift and carry materials and tools, as needed.

- Educated – Possess Bachelor of Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
- Technical - Strong knowledge of DOE and Rheology principles, semi-solid materials analysis, third-party testing methods. Working knowledge of SDS, chemical safety transportation requirements.
