Luciano’s Excavation is a family -owned excavation company based out of Taunton, MA. Luciano’s has been in business for over 11 years and has completed various multi-million-dollar projects across the New England area.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Excavation Laborer who specializes in performing manual tasks and providing support for excavation projects. Their primary role is to assist the excavation crew, equipment operators, and supervisors in preparing and excavating construction sites.

Job Duties:

· Excavation laborers help prepare the worksite by clearing debris, vegetation, and other obstructions. They may also assist in setting up safety barriers and signage.

· In situations where heavy machinery cannot be used, excavation laborers manually dig trenches, holes, or foundations using shovels, picks, and other hand tools.

· They load and unload materials and equipment, including pipes, conduit, concrete, and excavation materials, often using heavy equipment like forklifts or cranes.

· Excavation laborers work alongside heavy equipment operators, providing guidance and ensuring safe and efficient operation of equipment during excavation tasks.

· Installation of trench boxes, shoring systems, and other safety measures to protect workers from cave-ins in trenches.

· After excavation is complete, excavation laborers assist in backfilling trenches and compacting soil to prepare the site for construction.

· They are responsible for cleaning up the work area, removing debris, and ensuring that the site is left in a safe and organized condition.

· Excavation laborers are expected to follow strict safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and participating in safety training.

· They provide general support to the excavation team, including helping with measurements, marking out excavation boundaries, and assisting in any other tasks required to complete the project.

Essential Skills:

· Knowledge of safety protocols and a commitment to following them is essential. Excavation laborers must be aware of the potential risks associated with excavation work and take precautions to prevent accidents.

· Familiarity with a variety of hand tools, including shovels, picks, hammers, and power tools, is important. They should be skilled in using these tools for tasks like digging, cutting, and breaking.

· Some excavation laborers may operate smaller equipment, such as mini-excavators, compactors, or forklifts. Knowledge of equipment operation and safety procedures is valuable.

· Understanding the basics of trench shoring and excavation techniques, including proper trench box placement and soil compaction, is crucial for safety and efficiency.

· Effective communication with the excavation team, equipment operators, and supervisors is necessary to ensure smooth coordination and safety on the job site.

· Excavation laborers often encounter unexpected challenges, such as soil conditions or utility obstructions. Being able to think critically and find solutions is important

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.20 - $22.31 per hour
