Job Title : Junior-Level Technical Writer
Location : Redmond, WA (Onsite - 50% onsite requirements)
Duration / Start Date : 2 / 24 / 2025
Salary Range : $39-$43 / hourly
Candidates with previous experience working at Microsoft Corporation, either as a full-time employee (FTE) or contractor, are strongly preferred.
Role Summary :
This team is responsible for working with law enforcement agencies, ingest and disposition the data received and then provide data back to law enforcement. The other side of the team owns systems that are used in investigations for digital threats. Also, this role is a technical writer that can work closely with engineers, or review transcripts of conversations with engineers, and convert those to troubleshooting guides or other relevant knowledge base articles. Lastly, the role will consist of 30% collaborating with software engineers and other technical team members, 30% ensuring all documentation is accurate up to date, 30% reviewing and editing existing documentation and then 10% meetings.
Job Responsibilities :
- Collaborate with software engineers and other technical team members to gather information and develop clear and concise troubleshooting guides.
- Create and maintain various self-service documentation, including FAQs, how-to guides, and knowledge base articles.
- Ensure all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with company standards and best practices.
- Review and edit existing documentation to enhance clarity, consistency, and overall quality.
- Work closely with the support team to identify common issues and create documentation to address these problems proactively.
- Use technical knowledge to translate complex technical concepts into easily understandable content for various audiences.
- Conduct research and interviews to gather information from subject matter experts.
- Participate in peer reviews and provide constructive feedback to colleagues.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements to continuously improve documentation quality.
Qualifications :
The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience working with software engineers to develop comprehensive
troubleshooting guides and other self-service documentation. This role is crucial in aiding
new engineers and support personnel to efficiently understand and address technical issues.
The ideal resume would have excellent written and verbal communication, strong ability to explain technical concepts clearly and concisely, proficiency in using documentation tools and software, such as Microsoft Word, Confluence, and Markdown editors, experience in version control systems (GIT), and have a familiarity with Agile methodologies and software development lifecycle (SDLC).
