We are seeking a highly skilled Control Automation Engineer to join our Powertrain Data & Automation team. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining machine-level control systems and ensuring seamless integration with our manufacturing execution and data systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial automation, PLC programming, and system integration within a high performance manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Implement and maintain machine-level communication with the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to relay product quality data, machine status, and process variables.
Collaborate with data engineers to optimize automated workflows, ensuring robust and consistent data acquisition from machinery to centralized databases or cloud storage.
Maintain, troubleshoot and optimize PLC logic and control systems for equipment such as conveyors, robotics, and third-party devices, as well as interfaces with MES, LabVIEW applications, machine vision systems.
Work closely with process and controls engineers to ensure automation solutions are aligned with production requirements and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Control Systems, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
5 years of experience as a hands-on Controls engineer or automation engineer, proficiency with process integration.
Proficiency in PLC programming, particularly: o Ladder Logic (Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, RSLogix 5000) o HMI development tools (e.g., FactoryTalk, LabVIEW, Ignition)
In-depth knowledge of industrial communication protocols, including serial communication (e.g., RS-232, RS-485) and PLC-to-database connectivity.
Experience with state machine programming for complex automation systems involving multi-station coordination, pick-and-place operations, data acquisition, and PID control.
