We are currently seeking a CAE Analyst for the HV Battery Multiphysics team. This position requires a talented engineer with passion and experience to help develop state of the art thermo-electric and thermal-fluid models of battery components and power electronics. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.
Role
Bachelor's or master's or PhD degree in Mechanical engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other related engineering.
Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs. We are currently seeking a CAE Analyst for the HV Battery Multiphysics team. Role
- Be part of a passionate and highly driven team of multi-disciplinary engineers developing the next generation Lucid Battery and High Voltage components.
- Own and maintain state of art thermal-fluid and thermal-electric models of high voltage components, battery module and component heat sinks.
- Perform advanced FEA and CFD simulations to evaluate and optimize the design across different devices at the component and system level.
- Work cross functionally between various technical teams to evaluate concepts for future designs.
- Develop optimization methods for high voltage components and assemblies to maximize system efficiency while minimizing mass and cost of the system.
- Support design engineers in making sure the parts meet design requirements.
- Perform post-test reviews and correlate the CAE predictions to test results.
- Develop and apply advanced methodologies with smart analysis techniques to speed up the development cycle.
- More than 2 years of academic and applied experience in CFD, FEA and multi-physics CAE
- Experience with ANSYS Fluent, ANSYS Icepak, and/or ANSYS Mechanical for meshing, solving, and post processing.
- Knowledge of multidisciplinary CAE and modeling of thermal-fluid, thermal-electric and thermal-structural.
- Experience in thermal modeling of electronic components and/or battery modules.
- Strong knowledge of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and Mechanical/Electrical engineering fundamentals
- Geometry cleanup skills in a CAD package (Catia or SpaceClaim preferred).
- Excellent communication skills with people of varying technical ability in your field
- A strong desire to create the very best product, working as an integral part of a very capable team.
- The capability to design experiments to validate your analysis and ideas.
- Strong documentation practices
- Experience with electronics packaging design and analysis
- Experience with high fidelity battery cell thermal modeling
- Experience with FEA thermal-structural modeling of electronic components and battery cells
- Experience in HV battery design and optimization
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, COMSOL and other simulation tool
- Additional fields of experience (electromagnetics, structural statics/dynamics, material science, electro-chemical).
- Experience in: GTSuite, TaiTherm, StarCCM, Catia/3DExperience, Optimus, OptiSLang, or other engineering software.
- Practical hands-on experience with validation and experimental measurements including design of experiments.
- Experience with multi-objective optimization and process automation software.
