The Sr. Technical Training Specialist will report to the Technical Training Manager and is responsible for helping employees advance their technical, mechanical, and electrical skills and knowledge to prepare for success in maintaining the factory’s manufacturing equipment and facilities.
The role will be to locate and support our manufacturing facilities in Casa Grande, Arizona, with occasional travel. The Sr. Technical Training Specialist partners with cross-functional departments to assess technical training needs, develop technical training materials and curriculum, conduct Manufacturing Onboarding technical training, and maintain training facility equipment.
Duties include designing, implementing, operating, maintaining, and repairing technical training equipment, collaborating with stakeholders to determine training requirements, preparing reports, and coaching employees, leaders, and supervisors.

You Will
- Design and deliver classroom and on-the-factory floor training. This includes hands-on electrical and mechanical technical training experiences for maintenance and equipment engineering staff
- Design and implement training simulators to support training needs
- Set up and maintain technical training facility and equipment, including robot cells, lifts and hoists, Autonomous Guided Vehicles (AGVs), Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Programable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
- Support Material Handling Equipment (MHE) training
- Create and execute technical learning strategies and programs
- Measure learning effectiveness
- Mentor others
- Develops and maintains technical training library material through the Learning Management System (LMS)
- Generate and publish training reports
- Participate in new training material development initiatives to ensure employees receive the most up-to-date and relevant training available
- Schedule technical training for existing staff at the request of the Manufacturing and Facilities departments
- Interact with shop floor management to resolve training concerns and drive process improvements
- Conduct on-the-floor training support to resolve downtime issues and process improvements
- Willingness to travel to Lucid facilities and suppliers as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, or System) or equivalent education and experience
- Ideally, a minimum of five years experience operating, maintaining, and repairing automated automotive manufacturing equipment (robots, lifts, hoists, end effectors, self-piercing rivet guns, flow drill screw applicators, HVAC equipment)
- Excellent communication skills
- Willingness to learn, take on challenges, and mentor others
- Five years of experience in adult education and knowledge of adult learning concepts.
- Comprehensive knowledge of automotive manufacturing and engineering systems such as robots, flow drill screws, self-piercing rivet application systems, Autonomous Guided Vehicles (AGVs), paint and sealer application systems, manual and automated adhesive application systems, and stamping applications
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including but not limited to manufacturing robotics, hoist and lift systems, HVAC systems, automated process control, PLC, HMI, pneumatic, hydraulic, electric systems, servo and motor controls, sealant and adhesive application systems, Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Rockwell and Siemens Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
- Advanced troubleshooting and repair skills
- Material Handling experience
- Knowledge of required regulatory subjects such as Lockout / Tagout (LOTO), NFPA70E, Confined Space Entry Requirements, and Fall Protection
- Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods, tools, and techniques
- Ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people, including cross-functional teams in multiple locations
- Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Advanced problem-solving skills to respond to manufacturing process and system problems
