Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for setting best-in-class quality standards by maintaining consistent quality control requirements across inbound material, manufactured component and finished good inspection, while also developing and implementing plans focused on continuous improvement and manufacturing excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the Quality Assurance Department.
- Direct team on inspections for first article samples (FAS) and other inbound components, in-process and finished products to include wiring and LED/Driver operation, assembled goods, inspection of finishes to include anodizing, brushing, polishing and powder coating, and packaging.
- Develop and implement processes to ensure products meet required specifications for quality, function, and reliability prior to shipping.
- Set appropriate quality metrics, standards, and parameters for all product.
- Maintain documentation for departmental KPIs with relevant data supporting effective measurement of performance and progress.
- Ensure in-process and finished product non-compliance issues are evaluated and well documented for root-cause, Follows through issues to resolution safeguarding against repeat non -compliance.
- Review products, processes and systems on an ongoing basis to determine where improvements can be made.
- Ensure reliability of new product development processes.
- Implement new process in storing and ensuring return to storage of approved fixture and accessory product samples in cabinetry to be located in Building 2.
- Lead QA Department engagement in all regulatory and/or third-party audits and inspections while contributing to formulating and implementing corrective actions in response to audit findings.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Able to effectively manage others and drive outcomes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
- Skilled at using measurement equipment with appropriate documentation, to include but not limited to, calipers, pin gauges, spectrophotometers, CMM’s, and go/no-go gauges.
- Strong knowledge of calibration and ability to read blueprints.
- Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite and data entry systems.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or related field
- 10 years’ experience in manufacturing and quality assurance
Preferred Qualifications
- 7 years of progressive quality management experience
- Experience with ISO 9000, 140001 etc. implementation
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles (Six Sigma)
