Job Summary:
We are seeking an exemplary candidate who possesses an understanding of history, geography, civics, and economics, and will be able to create engaging and inclusive lessons for students in grades 6–8. Pedee is a small, innovative middle school, located outside of the Dallas, Monmouth area.
Key Responsibilities:
•Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards.
•Teach units on world history, U.S. history, geography, government, and current events.
•Create an inclusive and respectful classroom that encourages student participation and dialogue.
•Assess student learning through a variety of methods, including quizzes, projects, presentations, and class discussions.
•Use technology and multimedia tools to enhance instruction and student engagement.
•Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
•Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff on cross-curricular activities and school-wide initiatives.
•Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events.
•Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student behavior.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Social Studies, or a related field
•Valid TSPC teaching certification for middle school social studies in Oregon
•Strong classroom management skills and a passion for working with adolescents.
•Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills:
•Familiarity with project-based learning and inquiry-based instruction.
•Experience using educational technology (e.g., Google Classroom, online resources).
•Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
