SALES FLOOR MANAGER
SUMMARY

The Sales Floor Manager is responsible for assisting in operating a safe, neat, efficient, productive and profitable store. The Sales Floor Manager will provide leadership, management, and supervision for all customer access areas of the location. They are responsible for interviewing, training, developing, coaching and motivating the apparel, stocking and maintenance associates. The morale of the team and how passionate they are about selling and servicing our customers is a direct reflection of the Sales Floor Manager’s leadership. Responsibilities include (among others) planning, scheduling, communication, inspection, and establishing standards and routines. Overseeing the management and execution of inventory levels, freight receipts, merchandising, and signing are crucial to store success. The main goal is to drive sales and profitability of the facility by controlling and continuously improving all aspects of the department. In this management position, there will be times the Sales Floor Manager is responsible for the entire facility and overseeing all job functions.

Job Functions:

  • Financial oversight of all sales and profit goals. Achievement of superior results by developing and implementing strategies for merchandising and sales while controlling labor, expenses and shrink.
  • Provide outstanding customer service through proper scheduling of a trained and engaged workforce. Establish, model, and monitor customer service expectations.
  • Create and implement a plan for training and developing team members. Goal is a cross-trained staff with a high retention rate and succession plans for all key positions.
  • Ensure Leaders and Associates remain responsible for their roles. Coach, train and develop your replacement.
  • Perform all functions of opening and closing the store on a regular/weekly, possibly daily basis.
  • Develop and support a team-oriented environment with all directly supervised associates.
  • Drive, monitor and assist in ensuring that the store is always neat, clean, well-stocked, merchandised and signed to drive sales.
  • Develop and establish routines to ensure the store stays functional and well maintained during slow and peak times of the day.
  • Schedule to maintain standards and cost effectiveness during busy and lean retail selling periods.
  • Maintain building, grounds (generally from front driveway to back lot), and equipment in good repair through consistent reporting and follow-up
  • Additional responsibilities to be determined as business needs arise
  • We are a small business, and as such, we all help with any job necessary to keep the store safe, operational and profitable.
  • Willing to periodically take on a stretch assignment or another management role for the purpose of cross-training and developing skills required for General/Store Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to operate store equipment (including but not limited to telephone, registers, calculators, copiers, fax machines, computers, phone apps, pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.).
  • Ability to process merchandise information through store computer system, written instructions, pictures, register and complete all required paperwork.
  • Ability to communicate and relate well with customers, store personnel and upper leadership.
  • Report all customer/associate accident or incidents in a timely manner to upper leadership.
  • Establish a build to amount and place orders for all store supplies and fixtures.
  • Recognize and communicate the stock needed to satisfy customer demand.
  • Ability to clearly speak and make effective announcements over the intercom, phone or in front of a group.
  • Ability to move throughout all areas of the store; sales floor, receiving, register areas, including the outside perimeter of the store.
  • Ability to travel between stores with some overnight stays required.
  • Ability to clearly communicate detailed instructions, follow-up, train and motivate direct reports.

Requirements: reasonable accommodations will be considered

  • High School diploma or equivalent required – multiple years in a retail management role may be considered
  • Higher education, two or four-year degrees in business management preferred, but not required
  • Minimum of one years management experience in retail or service-oriented business, or demonstration of skills beyond the current level and ready to assume greater responsibility
  • MUST BE A MOTIVATIONAL LEADER TO THE TEAM
  • The ability to effectively manage in a professional, fast-paced work environment
  • Efficient in planning, prioritizing, scheduling, communicating and implementing detailed instructions
  • The ability to learn and communicate new information and processes to all associates
  • The ability to adapt quickly, be flexible, make sound decisions, and maintain a positive outlook when presented with foreseen or unforeseen obstacles
  • The ability to listen, calm, sell, and service (De-escalate the situation, then win back the customer)
  • Ability to move objects up to and exceeding 200 pounds with reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb a ladder on occasion. (up to a couple of times per day)

Working Conditions:

  • Must be willing to work irregular or non-core business hours, nights, weekends as needed to have store coverage. Retail management will routinely require 55 to 60 hours, or more.
  • The Sales Floor Manager is expected to work what it takes to get the job done.
  • In this position, the majority of a shift will be spent walking, standing, bending, lifting, pulling, stocking, cleaning both inside and outside.
  • Outside consists of, but is not limited to: Retrieving shopping carts, picking up trash, loading, unloading, sweeping, and other similar duties as assigned/needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
