Lucy School, an arts-integrated, environmentally focused independent school in Middletown, Maryland, is seeking a passionate and dynamic Middle School Humanities Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. Beginning in August, this full-time position involves teaching social studies and humanities to 5th through 8th grade students, following Maryland State standards while integrating the arts into the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with Maryland State social studies standards and integrate arts-based learning.
- Foster a student-centered, inquiry-driven classroom environment that encourages critical thinking and historical analysis.
- Incorporate creative methods, including storytelling, drama, music, and visual arts, to enhance student engagement and comprehension.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Collaborate with colleagues, including arts specialists, to develop interdisciplinary projects.
- Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments.
- Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and community-building activities.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Social Studies, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Teaching certification (or eligibility for certification in Maryland) preferred.
- Experience teaching middle school students and familiarity with arts integration techniques.
- Strong classroom management skills and a student-centered teaching philosophy.
