Lucy School, an arts-based, environmentally focused independent school in Middletown, MD, is seeking a passionate and energetic Part-Time PE Teacher to join our team. This role has the potential to become a full-time position based on the candidate’s skills and interests.
About the Role:
The PE Teacher will be responsible for leading engaging physical education classes for students from Kindergarten through 8th grade. We are looking for someone who can inspire a love of movement, teamwork, and healthy living while fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.

In addition to PE instruction, we are especially interested in applicants with one or more of the following skills:
✅ Teaching a Foreign Language – Ability to integrate language learning into the curriculum.
✅ Teaching American Sign Language (ASL) - Ability to integrate ASL into the curriculum
✅ Destination Imagination – Experience coaching or leading creative problem-solving teams.
✅ Administration & Development – Skills in school leadership, fundraising, or community engagement.
✅ On-Call Substitution – Willingness to step in as a substitute teacher when needed.
Qualifications:
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Education, or a related field.
- Previous experience teaching PE or working with children in an educational setting.
- Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to inclusive, child-centered teaching.
- A passion for outdoor and environmental education is a plus.
