Summary: Instrumentation and Controls Coordinator utilizes specialized measurement and control equipment in operations. The technician monitors the instrumentation and controls that provide the vital information necessary to indicate the machines and equipment in a plant are operating properly and safely. During construction, this position is needed to ensure proper installation and connection of measurement equipment and control systems, as well as startup and testing.
Essential Accountabilities: The following are intended to be examples of the accountabilities for which the person in this position is responsible. Reviews project requirements for control systems and automated processes systems, including, but not limited to, specifications, drawings (control schematics, circuit diagrams, process and instrumentation, single lines, etc.), submittals, and existing equipment information (i.e. submittals, operations and maintenance manuals, manufacturers literature, etc).
During equipment startup, if requested, accompanies, and assists the manufacturer’s representative while calibrating, testing, and the startup of instruments and associated equipment.
Assists Ludvik Field Supervision and Management during instrumentation and control systems testing and startup.
Develops Point-To-Point Sheets for use by others in terminations and sign-off.
Develops System Startup and Testing Procedures for use by others.
Troubleshoots.
Reviews process control panels, PLCs, and Instrumentation and preparation of wire termination and test documentation.
Coordinates contract schematics, process and instrumentation diagrams, and control descriptions with vendors, suppliers, and programmers.
Conducts low voltage power and controls field terminations, when requested.
Coordinates crew activities, as required and maintains records and files.
Assists with the installation of control and measurement instruments and equipment, when requested.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
At least 3-4 years of electrical Journeyman work experience.
5 Years Control Systems experience or bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology.
Experience in Water and Wastewater Systems and Processes
Familiarity with plant operations, instrumentation and control systems, and computer programs required to operate municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities are important.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools (i.e., Excel, Word, etc.).
Strong ability to organize, multi-task, prioritize and work under deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
An individual in this position should possess good communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. They should also possess electrical and mechanical skills and the ability to problem-solve.
