Lufkin is seeking an HSE Specialist for our manufacturing facility located in Nappanee, IN. The HSE Specialist will be responsible for providing support to the HSE Director related to all areas of the health, safety, and environment of our employees, partners, and communities for the assigned manufacturing location to ensure compliance with the Lufkin HSE Management system. The HSE Specialist will be responsible for collaborating with the Plant Manager to develop a culture of learning and continuous improvement for operational support, HSE team support, identifying process improvements and assisting the Plant Operations make tactical and strategic decisions for HSE.
Responsibilities
- Strategic member of the HSE Team responsible for the execution of the HSE strategy and Annual HSE Plan in their area of support
- Provide strategic HSE leadership, technical expertise, and coaching to the Plant Manager and operations team for effective HSE risk management
- Reducing the risk of loss through the application of health, safety, and environmental principles, knowledge, and expertise
- Accountable for being a business partner that supports the Plant Manager and operations team fulfill their HSE responsibilities for their facility
- Partner with the manufacturing leaders to proactively manage the deployment of HSE controls for incident prevention including;
- Supporting active participation in the Work Observation program
- Completing Compliance Tasks on time
- Effective on time closure of CAPAs
- Annual completion of Management System Self-Assessment
- Participate in HSE incident investigations and assure corrective actions are assigned / implemented in a timely manner for their area of support
- Meets company objectives while complying with local employment guidelines
- Sets personal objectives, provides fair and constructive feedback, evaluates training needs, and seeks areas for improvement
- Develops and contributes to a positive team dynamic to ensure high performance
- Other projects as required
Minimum Requirements
- Min of (5) years of direct HSE experience as an HSE professional with strong leadership skills
- HSE work experience working with oil and gas field services or manufacturing is a plus
- Professional certification is a plus (i.e., CSP, CIH, etc.)
- Ability to travel but limited travel required
- Strong grasp and understanding of OHSA regulations, safety compliance and industrial hygiene, auditing, correction/preventative action, and continuous improvement
- Ability to influence, inspire and motivate people who are not directly under his/her responsibility
- Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking capability
- Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills, along with ability to effectively influence others
- Proficient in SharePoint, MS Word, PowerPoint, Adobe and Outlook
- Strong organizational skills essential, coupled with the ability to multitask
