Job Summary :
The primary function of this position is to coordinate, analyze and support programs that are executed based on Regulatory requirements (Regulatory Programs). The group takes on an interdisciplinary approach for integrating resources such as utility scale renewables, distributed generation, including batteries, solar, and microgrids, tackling Interconnection Regulations for existing and new generation resources and engagement with internal and external collaborators. This role collaborates in carrying out the strategies defined by the leaders and engage stakeholders across the organization and / or works externally with third-party consultants to develop and draft LUMA's position. The position will be responsible for actively providing status updates to the Regulator, internally within LUMA and to stakeholders. Position may require occasional irregular hours.
Job Description :
ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS / DUTIES :
- Coordinates and prepares for submission the critical regulatory documents, including reports, Requests for Information (RFIs), and presentations which supported key initiatives such as Distributed Generation (DG) Interconnection, Microgrids, Utility Scale Battery Programs, Distribution Planning, Interconnection Regulations, and Net Energy Metering to ensure compliance with requirements set forth by the Energy Bureau (PREB) on behalf of LUMA Energy.
- Conducts initial analysis and draft regulatory filings and deliverables, ensuring alignment with previous submissions and objectives, while providing strategic direction and quality review.
- Keeps updated on LUMA's initiatives which impact the customer and grid reliability.
- Executes responsibilities effectively while identifying opportunities for role and processes improvements and take the initiative to implement enhancements.
- Provides ongoing regulatory support and oversight to all departments and work collaboratively with the pertinent departments and teams to ensure best efforts to meet regulatory filing deadlines and provide support as needed.
- Ensures adherence to the established timeline of deliverables, actively monitoring progress and coordinating efforts to complete all tasks on schedule.
- Oversees laws, policies and legislative initiatives and participating in the development of LUMA's regulatory strategy.
- Participates in inquiries from relevant agencies and prepare responses and review correspondence from Puerto Rico regulatory agencies.
- Collaborates and consults with internal and external legal counsel regarding participation in regulatory filings, proceedings, comments, and responses.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Follows all policies and procedures.
- Performs major storm restoration work and associated drills as assigned.
