Responsibilities / Position overview
We are seeking an innovative clinical development strategy expert to join our wider Strategy Consulting team to drive the growth and success of our Clinical and Regulatory business. In this newly created role, you will lead the Clinical Development Strategy and Advising service area and be responsible for client engagements and deliverables, and overall success of this area.
As Vice President, Clinical Development, you are expected to provide strategic direction and oversight of clinical development engagements, drive business development, serve as a key thought leader and brand ambassador, and lead the team to deliver exceptional services and achieve sales, revenue, and margin targets.
Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic Technical Leadership; provide oversight, direction, and recommendations while ensuring alignment with client objectives, and expand our market presence
- Client Management; serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor, nurture existing and create new client relationships
- Operational Excellence; oversee the delivery and ensure the high-quality of complex projects
- Business Development; actively seek new business opportunities and identify new clients, contributing to and participating in pitch planning and delivery, proposal review and account planning.
- Team Leadership & Development; hire, develop, lead, and retain top talent that delivers high-quality work, foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment
- Innovation & Thought Leadership; generate new, strategically aligned service offerings, work with clients to attain goal through innovative strategies, approaches, and methodologies, and serve as a clinical and product development thought leader.
Qualifications
- A degree in biological sciences with postgraduate qualifications in science, health, or business (e.g., PhD, MPH, MBA) is preferred.
- Extensive experience in clinical development strategy, advising, and delivery, creation of clinical development strategies, and integrated development strategies for assets in all stages of development across numerous therapeutic areas (CNS, oncology, immunology, etc.) and product types (biologics, drugs, gene/cell therapies), etc.
- Successful leadership experience in a biopharma company as a Senior Director or Vice President within Clinical Development Operations or a similar role.
- Experience leading cross-functional R&D teams or program teams.
- Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, regulations, and guidelines.
