SMT Operator Apprentice

JOB SUMMARY:

The SMT Operator Apprentice will be trained to set up and maintain SMT machines and processes. They will ensure processes meet established efficiency standards to maximize machine utilization. Reports to SMT Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (ONCE FULLY TRAINED):

• Responsible for operation of entire SMT production line including screen printer, two SMT pick and place machines, and a certified reflow solder oven.
• Collect, compile, analyze, develop, and report data and information regarding SMT operations/issues.
• Responsible for responding to all defects that come off the line.
• Responsible for filling out production logs correctly and keeping them up to date.
• Responsible for filling out job production documents to ensure production numbers are accurate and processes are being followed.
• Responsible for maintaining the SMT work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition as well as following all safety regulations.
• Inspect stencil for clogging regularly and ensure stencil is being cleaned as often as job requires.
• Responsible for reloading feeders when parts run out.
• Keep component fallout to a minimum.
• Vacuum machines out in between jobs so any excess parts are removed from machine.
• Screen printers and machines are to be cleaned and maintained internally and externally daily.
• Make sure work area is clean and uniform during and at the end of each shift.

MEASURABLE OBJECTIVES:

• Meet daily OEE target – Goal is to be above 65% daily.
• Maintain low changeover times – Goal is to average 15 minutes per setup.
• Maintain low teardown times – Goal is to average around 7 minutes.
• Stay below production repair target number – Goal is to stay under 10 repairs per line daily.
• Responsible for all reel changes to be signed off by both SMT and Quality departments – Goal is to have zero incorrect reel changes.'
