Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer with advanced experience in integrating and managing data pipelines, particularly within the healthcare sector. This individual will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, integrating data from healthcare systems, Salesforce, and other cloud-based sources into a robust data ecosystem. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in AWS services, cloud-based data storage, healthcare data security, and collaboration with analytics teams.
Essential Functions
Must have a home office that is secure and free of distractions (HIPAA-compliant workspace)
Prolonged periods of standing, sitting at the desk and working on a computer
Must be able to hear, speak, call and virtually meet
Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
Work Environment
In order to perform the essential functions of this job, you must have a dedicated remote workspace, and a wireless connection with a minimum of 50 Mbps of download speed and 10 Mbps of upload speed of dedicated internet bandwidth for each person working from home; the workspace is private and has low to no noise level as you will be on phone calls with patients. It is very important that your workspace is HIPAA compliant; your company issued laptop/pc must maintain visibility that only you can access as you'll be handling patient data. You are also expected to have your camera on during virtual meetings, therefore, you must be in a designated workspace/room for privacy.

- Data Pipeline Development & Optimization: Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines to efficiently transfer data from practice management systems, Salesforce, and other healthcare platforms into the data warehouse.
- Cloud Architecture & AWS Management: Architect and optimize AWS-based data solutions (S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, Athena, EMR), ensuring high performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Manage AWS data warehouses, implementing best practices for query optimization and data structuring to support reporting needs in AWS QuickSight.
- Salesforce Integration: Develop and maintain secure API integrations with Salesforce and other healthcare systems, ensuring reliable data extraction and transformation.
- Data Quality Assurance: Establish and manage data quality control measures to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data. Continuously monitor data pipelines to ensure smooth operation and data integrity.
- Healthcare Data Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain healthcare data security protocols in compliance with HIPAA and HITECH regulations, including encryption, access controls, and audit trails to safeguard sensitive patient data.
- Collaboration & Technical Support: Collaborate with Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Support the generation of accurate, actionable reports and dashboards by ensuring data pipelines are aligned with organizational needs.
- Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Stay up-to-date with evolving AWS services and data engineering best practices. Recommend and implement improvements to our data infrastructure to enhance performance and scalability.
- Project Leadership & Execution: Lead the technical implementation of healthcare data integration projects from requirements gathering to deployment. Conduct performance, security, and data quality analysis of existing databases to improve analytics reporting.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Participate in cross-functional team meetings to align data engineering efforts with organizational goals, ensuring that priorities are understood and met.

- Cloud Platform Experience (5 years): Proven expertise with AWS services such as S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, Athena, and EC2 for data storage, processing, and orchestration, particularly in a healthcare context.
- Healthcare Data (3 years): Experience working with clinical data, patient records, lab results, and understanding of healthcare regulatory standards like HIPAA.
