A Brief Overview
The Logistics Fiber Technician serves as the primary point of contact for fiber logistics operations and plays a key role in supporting the team to achieve project goals. Responsibilities include coordinating ordered fiber materials, ensuring accurate fiber charge-outs to appropriate accounts using the NISC software, and maintaining efficient workflows. The Logistics Fiber Technician collaborates with vendors, reviews and processes materials, manages work orders, and assists with scheduling fiber inventory. This role ensures fiber inventory accuracy through real time cycle counts and upholds a safe, orderly, and clean working environment. Additionally, the Logistics Fiber Technician interfaces with multiple departments, including accounting, engineering, and Fiber, as well as approved vendors and contractors, to maintain seamless communication and coordination. Cross-training on the electrical side of warehouse operations is required, with assistance provided as needed. This position demands a proactive and detail-oriented individual dedicated to supporting operational excellence and project success.
What you will do
• Gather materials for fiber jobs, load and unload trucks, sort fiber material and maintain fiber inventory
documentation. Using moving equipment such as a forklift, ensure that materials are moved and stored
in proper locations. Maintain the cleanliness, orderliness and safety of the warehouse.
• Assemble, issue, receive, stock and retire fiber materials for line crew and contractors for jobs based on
materials list and according to proper procedures. Returns and retirements are to be entered daily.
• Maintain needed documentation for the cooperative such as, but not limited to, transfer/receiving
paperwork, material paperwork, pick lists, work orders, etc. entering information into accounting
software.
• Process and file purchase orders and maintain active control of fiber materials on order to ensure that
fiber materials are available in sufficient quality and quantity that will enable Cooperative personnel to
render efficient and prompt service to the members. Advise Warehouse/Inventory Supervisor of
discrepancies between the purchase order and material received and of any damages to assure proper
receipt.
• Conduct fiber physical cycle counts and other fiber inventory audits as required or requested, such as
fiber, conduit, Gigaspires, etc., reconcile fiber inventory shortages and overages reporting discrepancies,
as necessary.
• Maintain accurate accountability of outgoing/incoming materials; requisitions with proper description
through Warehouse/Inventory Supervisor as needed. Make periodic checks of fiber material and fiber
supplies to maintain an average inventory and keep warehouse bins stocked with regularly used fiber
material.
• Evaluate items for salvage, return or retirement and restocks as necessary. Maintain fiber storage yard
and outside areas clean and free of debris, performing general housekeeping of outside grounds of
warehouse. Clean warehouse and keep free from hazards.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma High School Education Required or
• Associate's degree Business Administration, Engineering or related field Preferred
• An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential
duties of the job
• 3-5 year's experience with warehouse management, purchasing, inventory controls, and fleet assets
Required
• Working knowledge of fiber materials, electric materials, equipment, supplies, and apparatus required for
fiber construction, electric distribution and transmission construction, maintenance, and operations
• Must understand fiber staking sheets and computer-generated fiber material picking list sheets
• Must have knowledge of both overhead and underground construction and maintenance of distribution
and transmission lines as well as RUS list of Material and Construction Specifications
• Must have good communication, customer service and employee relation skills
• Valid Driver's License Upon Hire Required
• Forklift Certification within 90 Days Preferred
