Position Summary:
Lumeco Energy is a leading Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® (HPwES) contractor proudly serving Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey. As a mission-driven general contracting company, we specialize in energy audits, installation of energy conservation measures, electrification, and rooftop Agrovoltaic solar systems designed to reduce energy usage, lower utility bills, and improve indoor air quality for communities.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Commercial Energy Auditor to join our growing Commercial Division, supporting our expanding portfolio of commercial clients. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in commercial energy auditing, ENERGY STAR® benchmarking, and energy efficiency project management within commercial buildings.
This is a remote position that requires the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with internal teams and external stakeholders. The role involves assisting commercial clients with Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS) compliance, identifying and recommending cost-effective energy-saving measures, and providing technical support for incentive applications.
This role will report to Lumeco Consulting’s Director of Commercial Energy Solutions, a division under Lumeco Energy.
Required Job Responsibilities: Drive innovation in energy engineering and sustainability solutions focused on optimizing building performance across commercial and government sectors. This dynamic technical role offers the unique opportunity to:
- Conduct ASHRAE Level I and Level II energy audits for commercial and multifamily buildings
- Benchmark facilities using EPA ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager
- Gather and analyze technical building data including equipment specifications, trend logs, photos, and historical utility information
- Identify cost-effective Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs)
- Develop audit reports with calculated energy and cost savings recommendations
- Support utility program applications and provide documentation for incentive eligibility
- Collaborate with internal teams to scope projects and implement solutions
- Conduct onsite inspections and walkthroughs as needed
- Stay up-to-date with applicable local and federal energy performance standards, including Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS)
- Maintain strong customer relationships and communicate findings effectively with clients
Additional Job Functions:
Additional tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Providing outstanding customer service to all clients
- Scanning and uploading audit-related documentation as needed
- Answering inquiries from clients and internal stakeholders via phone and email
- Maintaining organized and timely reporting within project management systems
- Participating in training and continuous learning opportunities to enhance audit capabilities
Required Qualifications
The following qualifications are required for this role:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience conducting commercial energy audits
- One of the following certifications: Certified Energy Auditor (CEA), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), ASHRAE Building Energy Assessment Professional (BEAP)
- Strong knowledge of ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager
- Proficiency in GSUITE Tools (Sheets, Docs, Slides, Etc)
- Proficiency with Customer Relationship Management Tools (CRM)
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation (for occasional travel if necessary)
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are preferred for this role:
- Familiarity with Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS)
- Experience with utility rebate or incentive programs applications
- Experience with HVAC, lighting systems, envelope insulation, and other building systems
- Prior experience with Industrial Assessment Centers or formal audit training
- Engineering background (Electrical or Mechanical preferred)
