Job Title: Mainframe IMS Application Database Administrator
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe IMS Application Database Administrator to provide technical leadership and support for mainframe IMS databases. This role involves system administration, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring the availability of applications within the agency s infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:

Administer, maintain, and optimize IMS databases for development, testing, and production environments.

Perform performance monitoring, tuning, backup, and recovery for IMS databases.

Utilize DBRC/RECONS to perform forward recoveries and ensure valid database restoration.

Support application development teams by assisting with IMS database-related issues, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.

Coordinate testing and implementation of mainframe software upgrades and disaster recovery plans.

Provide after-hours support for nightly batch schedules, including COBOL and JCL programs.

Maintain mainframe operating system administration functions, including security monitoring and compliance with vendor standards.

Assist in production control and job scheduling for mainframe applications.

Create and manage procedures for application deployments and expand application environments as needed.
Required Qualifications:
-
7 years experience working with z/OS systems.
-
5 years experience in IMS database administration.
-
Proficiency in DBRC, forward recoveries, and database restoration.

Hands-on experience with TSO, SYSVIEW, SDSF, IDCAMS, and other IBM utilities.

Strong background in COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, and IMS programming.

Experience with IMS HAL databases and IMS Catalog.

Familiarity with z/OS REXX programming and batch processing.
Preferred Skills:
-
Knowledge of Top Secret security administration.

Experience with IP Printway, Informatica Power Exchange, and SFTP/FTPS processing.

Understanding of ISMF storage functions and logically related IMS databases.

Experience with ISPF panels, skeletons, and REXX scripting.
