Controls Design Engineer
Moorpark, CA
We are looking for a skilled Controls Design Engineer to take ownership of software development for various automation and machinery projects. You will work closely with both internal teams and customers to define project requirements and ensure the delivery of integrated and functional solutions. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to both small-scale R&D tasks and large production systems, with occasional travel (~5%) to customer sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, test, and integrate software solutions for automation, machine vision, robotics, and data systems.
- Program and integrate off-the-shelf components such as sensors, robots, and cameras.
- Manage project schedules and budgets, ensuring timely delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless project execution.
- Assist the production team during debugging, commissioning, and installation.
- Work directly with customers to refine and align on project requirements.
Qualifications:
- Experience in developing software for PLCs or similar systems.
- Proficiency in programming languages (VB.NET, C, or similar).
- Basic knowledge of HMI/GUI and PLC development software.
- Familiarity with communication protocols (RS232, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot automated systems.
Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
- Background in industrial automation or machine-building environments.
- Experience with Vision Systems and field devices (sensors, actuators).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
