We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Hydrometallurgy to lead our efforts in advancing and optimizing our copper extraction processes.
Position Overview:
The Director of Hydrometallurgy will be responsible for overseeing the development, optimization, and implementation of the hydrometallurgical processes involved in the extraction of copper. This senior leadership role will require strong technical expertise, innovative thinking, and strategic leadership to ensure the efficiency, sustainability, and economic viability of the copper extraction process. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, research and development, and environmental management, to drive operational excellence and technological advancements in the hydrometallurgical field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the hydrometallurgy division with a focus on the copper extraction process, including leaching, solvent extraction, and electrowinning.
- Experience with copper mineralogy and processing
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize the copper recovery process while ensuring environmental sustainability and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase process efficiency, reduce operational costs, and enhance product quality.
- Collaborate with R&D teams to innovate and test new hydrometallurgical techniques for improved copper extraction and recovery.
- Oversee the scale-up and implementation of new hydrometallurgical technologies, ensuring smooth integration with existing operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field (Master’s or PhD preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in hydrometallurgy, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Extensive experience with copper extraction processes, including leaching, solvent extraction, and electrowinning.
- Strong technical background in hydrometallurgical processes and a deep understanding of metallurgy and chemical engineering principles.
- Proven track record of successfully leading teams and managing complex projects in the mining or metallurgy industry.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, safety standards, and best practices in hydrometallurgy.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on optimizing processes and driving innovation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels, including senior management, engineers, and operational teams.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary, cross-functional environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with hydrometallurgical pilot plant operations and scale-up processes.
- Familiarity with industry-leading technologies and advancements in copper extraction and hydrometallurgy.
