The Quality Assurance Specialist (QAS) will review patient files to ensure all state and county requirements are met for compliance. The QAS will have a strong knowledge of time management and organizing data for simplicity and long-term storage. The QAS will help staff to improve services to patients which will increase adequate services for the company by strategizing efficient documentation and utilization practices.

1. EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or GED required

Degree Preferred

Certificate in quality assurance

2. EXPERIENCE:

1-2 years prior experience required in OHMAS, JHCO and CARF

At least one years’ experience required composed of evidence of experience in a substance and alcohol abuse rehab setting.

3. SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Able to perform QA audits to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies requirements.

Demonstrates Proficiency in Communication, observation & Written skills.

Proficiency writing Policies and Procedures

Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Quality Assurance

Working knowledge of tools, methods, and concepts of quality assurance

Solid knowledge of relevant regulatory standards

Excellent data collection and analysis skills.

Strong attention to detail.

Knowledge of Drug-Free Workplace Policies.

Knowledge of Workplace Violence Policies.

Knowledge of Corporate Integrity & Ethics Policies

Knowledge of Quality Assurance rules and regulations

SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION

1. Preparing and implementing quality assurance policies and procedures.

2. Ability to identify Quality Assurance issues and provide solutions.

3. Performing routine inspections and quality tests.

4. Ability to work independently, demonstrate flexibility, and pay close attention to detail.

5. Identifying and resolving workflow and production issues.

6. Ensuring that standards and safety regulations are observed.

7. Addressing and discussing issues and proposed solutions with superiors.

8. Documenting quality assurance activities and creating audit reports.

9. Making recommendations for improvement and completing performance improvement plans and/or corrective action plans.

10. Creating and updating training materials and operating manuals.

11. Ensure compliance with governing bodies, accredited organizations, and state laws.

12. Participate in all staff meetings as scheduled.

13. Monitor compliance for Infection Control, CLIA Waived Testing, DEA, and all other license/certificates.

14. Ensures the facility is compliant with life safety.

15. Ensures appropriate documentation and written required documentation is in all binders for Joint Commission and Ohio Addiction and Mental Health Services.

16. Monitors and plans for risk management and identifies areas actions plans to eliminate.

17. Perform weekly, monthly, yearly reports on Quality Assurance as requested

18. Complete all assigned paperwork in a neat, accurate and timely manner.

19. Observe and report safety and maintenance problems.

20. Always maintain a professional demeanor.

21. Protect the privacy of all patient information in accordance with Lumiere Healing Center’s privacy policies, procedures and practices, as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with general principle of professionalism as a health care worker. Failure to complete Lumiere Healing Center’s policies and procedures on patient privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

22. May access protected health information (PHI) and other patient information only to the extent that is necessary to complete your job duties. The incumbent may only share such information with those who have a need-to-know specific patient information you have in your possession to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment or other Lumiere Healing Center’s operations.

23. Willingness to work for the best interests of the facility.

24. Ability to work cooperatively with others.

25. Take responsibility for your own professional growth and development.

26. Expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding Lumiere Healing Center’s policies and procedures on patient privacy and any observed practices in violation of the policy to their Manager/Supervisor.

27. Perform other duties as assigned and as inherent and integral to position purpose statement.
