JOB TITLE: Traffic Signal Technician I
JOB CLASS: Hourly, Full Time
JOB HOURS: 40 Hour Week, Typically M-F 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with possible variations to accommodate specific project requirements. Occasional overtime, night work, and weekend work as required
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervisory Chain: Laborer < Tech > Foreman > Superintendent > Project Manager
- Semi-skilled and technical work in the construction, installation, and repair of traffic signal systems, highway lighting, and other transportation related systems.
- Fulfill the company tool list requirements.
- Complete and turn in required personal & project paperwork.
- Follow requirements for utility locates and permits.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
- Provide your own transportation to and from work and typically report to work at the job site.
- Abide by all the company safety rules
- Wear proper PPE while on the job site and in the yard for lifting operations to include: Safety-toed work boots, safety vest, work gloves, and hard hat.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum two years’ experience in any traffic related field. May be substituted by a combination of related skills such as electrical experience or construction in other fields.
- Operates aerial lift trucks and a variety of manually operated auxiliary equipment.
- Must be familiar with the MUTCD, NEC, CDOT & Local specifications & standards, Customer and Project specific specifications and standards.
- Must be proficient with basic hand tools and power tools.
- Must proficiently read plans and schematic diagrams.
- Must be proficient with basic computer skills.
- Ability to perform with moderate supervision.
- Ability to perform heavy physical work, often under adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
- Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with others.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, and TRAINING:
- Must maintain your satisfactory status in the apprenticeship program.
- Must possess and maintain valid Colorado driver’s license.
- Must maintain a valid medical card if you have a CDL driver’s license.
- Must be insurable.
- WL Bucket truck/Aerial lift truck and Fall protection training.
- WL Trencher, Excavation, and Utility Damage Prevention.
- Hazard Communications/MSDS, Blood Borne Pathogens, Hantavirus, Respiratory Protection
- Utility damage prevention training
- IMSA Work Zone Safety certification or equivalent (CCA).
- IMSA Traffic Signal Level I Certification
- CDOT Flagger Certification.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to work at heights over 20 feet.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds.
