What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Supervisor position at Luminary Care?
Position Title: Clinical Supervisor (LMHC) – Remote Independent Contractor
Location: Based in New York City | Remote (New York State License Required)
Employment Type: Part-Time or Full-Time | Independent Contractor
About Luminary Care:
Luminary Care is a growing, mission-driven mental health startup built to support licensed
clinicians who are ready to work independently—but don’t want to do it alone.
We understand the challenges of private practice: getting credentialed, setting up a business,
managing technology, and building a caseload. That’s why we’ve created a streamlined, tech-
forward platform that simplifies the administrative side of private practice so you can focus on
providing care, building a supervision practice, and growing a business that’s truly your own.
If you’re looking for a flexible opportunity with meaningful support, Luminary Care provides the
infrastructure and community to help you succeed on your terms.
Position Overview:
We are hiring an experienced Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to join Luminary Care
as a Clinical Supervisor. This role is fully remote, offers flexible hours, and is ideal for clinicians
who want to build a hybrid practice that includes both therapy and supervision—while receiving
real support in doing so.
This role is especially well-suited for LMHCs who have worked in hospital or structured clinical
settings and are now looking for more independence and long-term ownership over their work.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide clinical supervision to pre-licensed mental health counselors (e.g., MHC-LPs) in
accordance with New York State requirements
• Maintain a therapy caseload of approximately 15 client sessions per week
• Support supervisees in clinical skill-building, case formulation, and ethical decision-
making
• Complete supervision documentation in compliance with NYS licensing board
requirements
• Optional: contribute to clinical collaboration, peer support, or startup-focused projects
Qualifications:
• Active and unrestricted LMHC license in New York State
• Approved to provide clinical supervision under NYS guidelines
• At least three (3) years of post-licensure experience
• Preferred: Background in hospital, behavioral health, or structured outpatient settings
• Prior experience supervising interns or pre-licensed clinicians
• Organized, responsive, and comfortable using telehealth and digital platforms
What We Offer:
Luminary Care helps clinicians move forward with confidence—whether you’re just starting in
private practice or expanding what you’ve already built.
We provide:
• A HIPAA-compliant EHR and integrated telehealth tools
• Credentialing support with major insurance panels (including CAQH, NPI, and payer-
specific guidance)
• Business formation support including:
o Assistance registering your PLLC or corporation in NY
o EIN/Tax ID filing and compliance setup
• Marketing and referrals to help you build your caseload and supervision demand
• Umbrella liability insurance coverage
• Step-by-step onboarding and guidance to help you get set up properly and confidently
• Optional support in expanding into additional states (e.g., NJ, CT, FL)
• Opportunities to grow into leadership or mentorship roles as the platform expands
• A collaborative, respectful environment focused on professional growth
• Autonomy and flexibility over your schedule, caseload, and supervision model
Compensation:
This is a 1099 independent contractor position. Earnings are based on volume and flexibility,
with transparent rates:
• Therapy Services: Clinicians earn 60% of revenue per session (average $100–$150 per
session)
• Supervision Services: Supervisors receive 8% of the total revenue generated by each
supervisee they oversee
• Based on caseload and supervision volume, most clinicians in this role can expect to earn
between $90,000 and $150,000 annually
This Opportunity is Right for You If You:
• Want to run your own practice with real support behind you
• Are looking for more flexibility, autonomy, and long-term ownership in your career
• Enjoy supervising and mentoring early-career clinicians
• Are comfortable with remote work and using digital tools
• Appreciate a platform that respects your independence while providing meaningful
resources
• Want to grow your impact while maintaining balance and control
How to Apply:
To apply, please submit:
• Your resume or CV
• A short cover letter sharing your supervisory experience, interest in independent work,
and overall goals
• Your availability and whether you're looking for part-time or full-time work
We look forward to connecting with thoughtful, experienced professionals who are excited about
the future of mental health care and their role in it.
