Position Objective:
Performs all aspects of physics support services for the radiation oncology area in accordance with established professional and departmental standards and procedures.
Essential Job Duties:

- Conducts daily quality assurance tests on radiological and emergency equipment and records results.
- Maintains a daily activities log and procedures manual. Compiles data and issues monthly reports as required.
- Ensures compliance with hospital safety policies and procedures, Joint Commission guidelines, and state radiation control regulations.
- Supervises and directs the efforts of commercial vendor activities in the areas of emergency service, pre-installation planning, review of environmental and equipment blueprints and specifications, radiation safety considerations, service contract proposals, and installation schedules.
Educational/Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of a Master of Science degree in Medical Radiation Physics and Board certified by the American Board of Radiology (or Board eligible).
- Must be able to interact smoothly and effectively with people and should have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A strong computer background is necessary.
- Two years full-time training under the supervision of a senior level clinical medical physicist required as minimum level.
Preferred: Ph.D in Medical Physics with current ABR certification in Therapeutic Radiology.
Required License/Certifications:
- ABR certification in Therapeutic Radiology preferred
Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands:
There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
Physical Demands -
Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
