Job Summary:
A Medical Assistant plays a vital role in providing patient care, supporting healthcare providers, and maintaining office operations. They perform administrative and clinical tasks to ensure smooth workflow and quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately register and schedule patients, manage provider schedules, and maintain inventory of medical supplies.
- Process orders for clinical supplies, complete lab requests, and adhere to Quality Assurance/Quality Control standards.
- Administer injections, EKGs, spirometry, phlebotomy, and render therapeutic treatments as instructed by physicians.
- Determine patient eligibility using Medicaid EVS, identify referral needs, and screen calls with proper telephone etiquette.
- Ensure accurate and timely data input within electronic health records, accessing patient information only as necessary.
- Obtain patient vital signs, document them properly, and assist providers during medical examinations.
- Prioritize the patient experience through I.C.A.R.E. behaviors.
- Perform other projects and duties assigned.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- One year of clerical/billing experience in a medical office setting preferred.
- Bilingual/multilingual interpreters must hold Medical Interpretation certification.
- Experience operating various medical equipment and software.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification required.
- American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification is mandatory.
Working Conditions:
The position requires exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Heavy physical demands are associated with this role, including exerting up to 100 pounds occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently.
