What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Estimator position at Luminous Talent?
As a Junior Estimator, you will play a crucial role in our project bidding process. You will be responsible for evaluating project specifications and documents, preparing accurate cost estimates, and ensuring that all bids are competitive and profitable. We believe in a collaborative bidding process. All estimates you prepare will be reviewed by others on the Estimating and Operations team, as well as the Lead Estimator. We believe this is the best way to train Junior Estimators, as well as the number one method to provide accurate proposals to the client.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review project plans and specifications to identify scope and requirements.
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for concrete construction projects.
- Procure and analyze subcontractor/supplier quotes to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
- Collaborate with project managers and field teams to gather relevant project data.
- Develop and maintain existing databases of labor rates, material costs, and equipment pricing.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project conditions and requirements.
- Present estimates and proposals to management and clients.
Qualifications:
- Basic construction knowledge preferred.
- Basic knowledge of concrete materials, techniques, and costs.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g.: OnScreen Takeoff, Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook).
- Self-motivated with attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
