Job Summary
The STCJ (Special Tribal Criminal Jurisdiction) Coordinator/Deputy Tribal Prosecutor works as the attorney within the Office of the Reservation Attorney. The primary responsibility will be to coordinate the planning and implementation of the Special Tribal Criminal Jurisdiction (STCJ) jurisdiction in Lummi Tribal Court. This attorney will coordinate with the stakeholders, including without limitation the Council, Chief Judge, Chief of Police, Victims of Crimes Program, Law and Justice Commission, and others. Once the procedures are established, this attorney will primarily prosecute cases under the special STCJ jurisdiction against non-tribal perpetrators. The duties may include representing the Lummi Nation in litigation matters in tribal, federal and state courts. Job performance of the STCJ Coordinator/Deputy Tribal Prosecutor is evaluated by the Senior Deputy Prosecutor.
