Lummus Technology is searching for a Strategic Sourcing Specialist. A Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and selecting suppliers to meet the organization’s purchasing needs while driving value and optimizing costs. This role involves analyzing the raw material market, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring supply chain efficiency. Align sourcing strategies with the Demand Plan, focusing on cost reduction, quality improvement, and risk mitigation. We are looking for someone with strong leadership, collaboration, and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the overall relationship, onboarding, and evaluation of suppliers.
- Researching and selecting potential suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery performance, and other criteria.
- Leading negotiations on pricing, terms, conditions, and agreements to secure favorable contracts.
- Continuously seeking ways to reduce costs through strategic sourcing, bulk purchasing, or process improvements.
- Assessing potential risks in the supply chain, such as disruptions, regulatory issues, or geopolitical factors, and developing contingency plans.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality and reliability.
- Keeping up to date with market trends, supplier capabilities, and competitive pricing to inform sourcing decisions.
- Using data to track spending, measure supplier performance, and analyze the effectiveness of sourcing strategies.
- Work closely with procurement, finance, logistics, sales, and demand planning to align sourcing with broader organizational objectives.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 7-10 years of progressive Supply Chain, International Procurement, or International Business Management experience.
- Experience in strategic global product sourcing and optimization.
- In-dept knowledge of ERP-systems (JDE E1) strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong ability to negotiate contracts and terms effectively.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Strong PC aptitude required including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and Tableau.
- Data driven and analytical mindset: You like working with numbers and derive your actions from them. Advance Excel and Tableau (or similar) is required.
- Must be result-orientated, organized, analytical, and team player.
- Understanding of supply chain management and logistics to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services.
- Highly effective interpersonal communication skills in a global setting with emphasis on building strong relationships with suppliers and ability to collaborate across functional lines.
- Ability to manage critical project timelines.
- Awareness and appreciation of diverse cultures.
- Must be able to set realistic deadlines and strategize daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly progress.
- The ideal candidate will be flexible and adaptable, demonstrating a willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities as the scope of the role evolves in response to changing business needs and priorities.
