What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety and Efficiency Supervisor position at Lunar Distribution?
Lunar is looking for a member of our team to take the lead as our Safety and Efficiency Supervisor. This is a new position that will work very closely with the Director of Operations to create a safer, cleaner future for Lunar as we continue growing to be an industry leader in distribution. The Safety and Efficiency Supervisor will tackle varying tasks to accomplish the overall safety of the Lunar workspace and increase the efficiency of all processes. This will be a leadership role spearheaded by one individual but may lead to the management of other team members with time. Tasks the supervisor will focus on but not be limited to will include the following.
Monday-Friday 8 AM-6 PM
$22 per hour
Responsibilities
- The Safety and Efficiency Supervisor will have working knowledge of OSHA guidelines, particularly as they apply to warehousing, through previous standing knowledge or daily work to acquire information. Using this information, the supervisor will inform and educate other staff members regularly on safe practices through team meetings and other means of communication. Using knowledge of OSHA requirements and safety protocol, the Safety and Efficiency Supervisor will apply safety measures in the workspace and work with the Direction of Operations to ensure procedures are followed. When needed, the officer will acquire and implement safety materials to warehouse spaces.
- The Safety and Efficiency Supervisor will be in charge of learning the machinery regularly used by trained individuals in our warehouse, such as standing reach trucks and seated forklifts. Once trained on and fully oriented to these machines, they will be in charge of developing and implementing regular training programs for the machines’ usage. The supervisor will be in charge of keeping all trained individuals up to date on their certifications to operate within our facility.
- The Safety and Efficiency Supervisor will work with the pick team, inventory team, and floor management to identify opportunities to increase efficiency. This will include brainstorming new processes, monitoring warehouse supply levels, creating permanent homes for all necessary daily items in the warehouse, and making sure items stay in their designated spaces. The supervisor will be in charge of tracking supply items and ordering more when levels run low. The supervisor will be in charge of ordering, constructing, locating, and implementing the use of new supplies and equipment.
- Finally, the Safety and Efficiency Supervisor will be in charge of monitoring and handling the removal of waste and searching for efficient methods to do so. The will ensure all rows remain clean and clear of broken-down or empty boxes. They will monitor the cardboard baler to ensure it is always fully operable, monitoring the count of damage and pulp skids needing to be sent to recycling facilities, and monitor the buildup of pallets and pallet toppers. The Supervisor will be in charge of scheduling pickups for this waste product.
