Key Responsibilities
- Assemble & Align: Follow established procedures to assemble optical and mechanical components into air-spaced and solid etalon filters (20mm to 100mm ), ensuring proper alignment and compliance with specifications
- Precise Bonding: Delicately place and bond small glass spacer feet (tiny glass pieces ~4mm) onto larger glass plates, then bond additional plates on top to create the filter stack
- Handle Fragile Parts: Clean, transfer, and bond fragile optical parts with utmost care to prevent damage throughout the assembly process
- Tools & Inspection: Use specialized tools, tweezers, and inspection equipment (training provided) to ensure components are correctly placed and meet quality standards
- Collaborate & Learn: Work closely with optical engineers and lead technicians to learn the contacting (bonding) process and assist in troubleshooting minor assembly or alignment issues under their guidance
- Maintain Clean Workspace: Keep a clean, organized work area to support precision assembly and maintain a safe, dust-free environment for optical components
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Outstanding attention to detail and excellent hand-eye coordination (parts can be as small as 4mm x 4mm)
- Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions accurately
- Comfort working with small, delicate parts using tweezers and precision tools
- Strong communication skills and a basic problem-solving mindset
- Willingness to learn specialized optical assembly procedures and accept feedback for improvement
- Experience with mechanical assembly or other precision/hands-on assembly work
- Familiarity with optical systems or components (any basic optics knowledge is a plus)
- Pay: $18–$24 per hour (depending on aptitude and experience) with production bonus potential monthly after training.
- Training & Hiring: This role starts as a contract position with up to 3 months of paid training. Upon successful completion of the training period, it will convert to a full-time position with a standard benefits package (health insurance, PTO, etc.)
- Work Environment: This position is 100% onsite at our Tucson facility. You will work in a clean, lab-like setting alongside experienced technicians who will mentor you through the learning process
