Title: Senior Director of Corporate and Institutional Giving

Salary Range: $150,000 - $165,000
The Lupus Research Alliance (LRA), the largest private funder of lupus research in the world, seeks a strategic and results-driven Senior Director of Corporate and Institutional Giving to lead efforts in securing and growing philanthropic support from corporations, foundations, and other institutional partners. This key leadership role will develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to expand LRA’s institutional funding base and drive impactful partnerships that support the organization’s mission to transform the lives of those living with lupus through the power of science.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in building successful corporate and institutional partnerships, a deep understanding of grant writing and stewardship, and the ability to communicate the impact of scientific research to diverse stakeholders.
Strategic Leadership

Design and implement a comprehensive strategy to grow corporate and institutional giving revenue in alignment with organizational goals.

Work with leadership and staff across the organization to recognize opportunities for growth and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them.

Work across the Development team to ensure collaboration, effective communication, and trust.

Collaborate with the advancement, research, clinical, finance, and leadership teams to identify funding priorities and align with potential corporate and institutional partners’ philanthropic goals.

Develop innovative sponsorship and partnership opportunities to engage corporations and foundations in meaningful ways.
Fundraising and Relationship Development

Build and manage a robust portfolio of corporate and institutional prospects, cultivating relationships to secure significant multi-year commitments.

Oversee all aspects of grant development, including writing proposals, managing deadlines, and tracking deliverables.

Identify and secure event sponsorships, cause marketing campaigns, and other partnership opportunities to support LRA’s initiatives.
Stewardship and Engagement

Ensure timely and effective stewardship of corporate and institutional donors, including recognition, reporting, and engagement opportunities.

Organize and execute donor site visits and other activities to deepen relationships and showcase LRA’s impact.

Collaborate with communications, research and clinical teams to create compelling materials and reports for institutional partners.
Data and Metrics

Develop and maintain a pipeline of corporate and institutional prospects using a CRM system (Salesforce) to track progress and performance metrics.

Design and implement a logic model framework for organizational programs that will provide structure and clear/consistent messaging around the purpose and expected impact of those programs.

Monitor industry trends and conduct research to identify new funding opportunities.

Provide regular reports to leadership on the status of institutional giving efforts and outcomes.
Team Development, Management and Collaboration

Partner with the Chief Advancement Officer, VP of Development, and other senior leaders to align corporate and institutional giving strategies with broader organizational priorities.

Manage a national team of grant writers and corporate partnerships officers.

Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.

Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach on a consistent basis.

Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, and conduct annual performance reviews.
Experience and Background
-
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
-
9 – 12 years of experience in fundraising/nonprofit management, preferably in public health or health-focused nonprofits

Experience working with and managing relationships with high-net-worth individuals

Proficiency in Salesforce and Microsoft Office Suite, including ability to efficiently create and manipulate Excel data

Ability to work independently and collaboratively, to multi-task, and to work under pressure on time- sensitive issues

Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills, results oriented

Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs
