Description
Position Summary
The Estimator is responsible for analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services.
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, related field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience.
Essential Job Functions :
Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists.Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work; preparing bids; selecting vendors or subcontractors; and determining cost effectiveness.Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions.Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates.Organizes and manages a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized.Analyzes completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies.Provides improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.Identifies cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.The job description is not an all-inclusive list of functions and tasks. Proficient math (more specifically geometry, fractions, and percentages), computer, and problem-solving skills are essential.Previous experience reading blueprints and architectural drawings.Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables on a daily basis.Interpret multiple sets of instructions furnished in various forms (oral, diagram, and schedule form).Must be extremely detail-oriented, and a team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines.The ability to attain moderate skills navigating in Estimating Software and manual estimating calculations.Ability to work with a diverse group of people and customers.Regular attendance, punctuality, and dependability.Physical Demands / Work Environment :
