Position Title : Sr. Product Manager within AI / ML Group

Type of hire : 6 Months Contract

Location - Houston, TX

  • Utility Industry exp Required.
  • Experience at the intake process of working with stakeholders to fine tune the ideas into actionable projects.

The Product Owner will lead the development and delivery of products, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs. They will act as the liaison between stakeholders and the development team, ensuring that the Agile process runs smoothly and that the product backlog is prioritized effectively.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Product Vision & Strategy :

Develop and communicate the product vision and strategy, aligning it with company objectives and customer needs.

Collaborate with stakeholders (business, marketing, technical, and customers) to gather requirements and define the product roadmap.

Continuously refine the product vision based on feedback from users, market trends, and evolving business goals.

1. Product Backlog Management :

Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring it is clearly defined, prioritized, and communicated to the development team.

Write clear and concise user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria, ensuring they are understood by the development team.

Prioritize backlog items based on business value, user feedback, and technical feasibility.

Continuously refine and adjust the backlog based on changing business needs and feedback.

1. Sprint Planning & Execution :

Actively participate in sprint planning meetings, working with the Scrum Master and development team to ensure that high-priority items are ready for development.

Ensure that the team understands the business value of each story and that any ambiguities are clarified.

Monitor the progress of sprints and ensure that the team is on track to meet sprint goals.

Act as the first point of contact for the development team when they need clarification on requirements.

1. Stakeholder Management :

Serve as the primary liaison between the development team and stakeholders, ensuring open communication and setting clear expectations.

Conduct regular stakeholder meetings to provide updates on progress, gather feedback, and adjust the product strategy as needed.

Balance stakeholder interests while ensuring that the product vision is maintained and that the development team stays focused on the highest-value work.

1. User Research & Feedback :

Work with UX / UI teams to gather user insights and incorporate them into the product development process.

Leverage data, market research, and customer feedback to inform product decisions.

Regularly engage with end users to understand their pain points, needs, and preferences.

1. Agile Process Adherence :

Ensure that Agile principles are followed within the team, and advocate for continuous improvement in the Agile process.

Participate in retrospectives, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and other Agile ceremonies.

Ensure that the development team is empowered to make decisions while maintaining alignment with the product goals.

1. Performance Monitoring :

Track and measure product performance against business KPIs and OKRs (Objectives and Key Results).

Work with the development team to ensure that delivered features meet quality standards and provide the intended business value.

Use data-driven insights to iterate on the product and continuously deliver enhancements.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

1. Nice to Have : Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO) :

Certification from a recognized body such as Scrum Alliance (CSPO) or Scrum.org (PSPO) is required.

In-depth knowledge of Agile methodologies and Scrum framework.

1. Product Management Experience :

3 years of experience in a Product Owner or Product Management role, ideally in an Agile environment.

Experience working with cross-functional teams (developers, designers, QA) to deliver high-quality products.

1. Backlog & Requirement Management :

Strong experience in writing user stories, managing product backlogs, and setting priorities based on business value.

Ability to translate business requirements into actionable tasks for the development team.

1. Communication & Collaboration :

Excellent communication skills to convey the product vision to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Strong stakeholder management abilities to balance competing priorities and align everyone on the product goals.

Skilled in conducting effective meetings, sprint planning sessions, and backlog grooming.

1. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills :

Ability to analyze data and make decisions based on metrics and insights.

Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in managing scope, expectations, and constraints in an Agile setting.

1. Adaptability & Flexibility :

Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

Ability to adapt the product strategy as new information and feedback become available.
