The beautiful Gardens Assisted Living at Luther Park Community in Des Moines has a unique opportunity for the right person to be our new Assisted Living Manager. This is a full-time position that includes overseeing and collaborating with all aspects of an Assisted Living facility.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Assisted Living Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of The Gardens including accounting, budgeting, staffing, administrative and regulatory compliance. The Manager enforces and monitors policies and procedures to provide a physical, social and psychological environment conducive to maintaining the highest level of independence and autonomy for all residents. The Manager sets the tone and atmosphere of the facility and ensures compliance with established standards for assisted living programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Operations: (partial list)
- Direct, promote and evaluate standards, philosophy, goals, objectives and policies to ensure optimum level of independence and autonomy for residents and compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Supervise and evaluate the work of direct reports including Administrative Coordinator and Activities Lead.
- Provide support and programming recommendations to the Wellness Coordinator.
- Collaborate with the Human Resources Department on employee recruitment and selection, coaching and disciplinary actions, performance improvement and evaluations, leaves of absence, grievances and work schedules.
- Create and maintain working climate conducive to recruitment of qualified staff, job satisfaction and employee retention. Promote continuous quality improvement and professional empowerment.
- Communicate with family members regarding condition and progress of the resident including in-person and telephone discussions where appropriate.
- Collaborate with Executive Director Marketing & Senior Housing and Director of Health Services to recruit new residents, ensure appropriate admissions and coordinate transitions between levels of service when needed.
- Submit reports, records and documentation as required by internal policies, state and federal rules, regulations and laws for assisted living facilities.
Accounting: (partial list)
- Prepare monthly billing statements for residents ensuring accurate reflection of charges for rent, health care packages and/or other charges and distributed in a timely manner.
- Monitor collection of past due accounts.
- Prepare deposits and accounting of revenue from resident payments, including ACH payments and third-party payers.
- Serve as liaison to long term care insurance companies. Provide information as requested and ensure payments are credited to correct resident account.
- Process invoices for accounts payable.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent and completion of post-secondary level course(s) in business and/or marketing.
- State of Iowa Assisted Living Manager certification or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
- Medication Management certification or ability to obtain certification with 90 days of hire.
- One year of management or supervisory experience.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from residents, family members, staff, regulatory agencies or member of the business community.
- Possess initiative, good judgment and leadership ability to work well with the community, residents, families and staff.
- Possess understanding and compassion for the elderly population.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with people of all backgrounds.
- High level of proficiency with computer programs including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook and PointClickCare.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-directed and ability to work independently.

Physical Demands of the Position
Requires the employee to sit, stand and move about various areas of the Luther Park Community. The employee will be required to use hands to reach or hold objects, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
