The Admissions Counselor/Assistant Director of International and Transfer Admissions serves as a primary point of contact for prospective international and transfer students, families/guardians, community college advisors, and high school counselors. This position will provide comprehensive support and guidance through the application and admissions process. This position requires both international and domestic travel. Primary responsibilities of the position include coordinating the recruitment of students from a specific geographical region, visiting targeted schools and colleges, and attending select college fairs. Duties also include interviewing prospective students on-campus and assisting with other admissions-related activities and events as assigned. This individual will also be assigned liaison responsibilities with Luther College academic departments and strategic recruitment projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide excellent and timely customer service to prospective students and their families/guardians at all stages in the application, admissions, and financial aid processes; i.e., inquiry to enrollment.
- Participate in all aspects of admissions recruitment. Represent Luther College domestically and internationally at college fairs, high school visits, transfer fairs, community college visits, and counselor events.
- Use data and trend analysis to develop and execute recruitment plans for assigned international and domestic markets, fostering existing partnerships and seeking new opportunities.
- Utilize CRM to effectively manage student database, territory, and communications
- Review application files and render admission recommendations
- Determine strategies for effective outreach for an assigned territory; develop and initiate communication/activities to accomplish enrollment goals, including but not limited to outreach via email, text, virtual meetings, and in-person visits.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of on-campus recruitment and yield events, including Transfer Visit Day and International Student Orientation
- Build and maintain network of key stakeholders such as community college advisors, EducationUSA advisors, international high school counselors, and alumni.
- Assist in the design and implementation of marketing initiatives for transfer and international students via collaborations on brochures, website enhancements, and social media content.
- Maintain on-campus collaboration with Registrar, faculty, CIES, CGL, Housing, and other entities.
- Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally to represent Luther College. Typical international travel duration ranges from 1-4 weeks, per trip. Travel requires a valid passport and driver’s license.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of International and Transfer Admission.

- Bachelor's degree
Experience:
- One year of related work experience
Preferred Experience:
- Ability to speak, read, and write in a language other than English
- Familiarity with foreign educational systems, grading scales, curricula, and transcripts
- Work or study experience outside the United States and/or with international student communities

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Work is often performed in an office environment with frequent in-person interactions and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment. Involves sitting for long periods of time at desk/office.
- Position will require occasional evening and weekend activities to support admissions events and programming
- Position requires domestic and international travel for recruitment purposes
- Ability to lift 45 lbs (recruitment materials)
