What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Processing Coordinator position at LUTHER COLLEGE?
Responsible for the coordination, certification and reconciliation of all PLUS and private student loans as well as generation of daily aid distribution batches and transfers to the Student Accounts Office. Position also responsible for printing and quality control of award letters and serves as primary back-up to the Financial Aid Administrative Assistant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Coordinates all aspects of the PLUS and private loan processing and creates daily transmittals of aid to the Student Accounts Office. This includes initial certification, processing of loan changes and reconciliation of all private loans as well as reconciliation of received/granted programs with the Student Accounts Office.
- Manages both the paper and electronic aid offer process including the printing of letters, quality control of award letter content, preparation and mailing of award letter packets and creation of a new student permanent file. Additional responsibility includes the sending of mass e-mail communications.
- Retrieves and reviews FAFSA data and distributes to appropriate staff for further review.
- Reconciles scholarship data with the Admissions Office.
- Creates weekly first year and continuing student financial aid reports for the Vice President of Enrollment.
- Receiving of outside scholarship checks and funds and occasional scholarship and tuition billings.
- Running and reviewing error reports to reconcile data.
- Serves as the primary back-up for the Financial Aid Administrative Assistant. This includes assisting visitors, answering phones, opening mail, appointment scheduling and student employee supervision. This position will also serve as the primary back-up for the transmittal of information to and from the U.S. Department of Education.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Three to five years of administrative assistant experience.
- Ability to manage multiple, detail- intensive projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication and customer service skills are essential.
- General knowledge of financial aid process is helpful.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s degree with coursework in Microsoft Office Suite, business practices, keyboarding, and office procedures preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Sedentary work: involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time, includes exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or the ability to lift, carry, push or pull, or otherwise move objects with a negligible amount of force.
