Housekeeping/Laundry - Part-Time
Schedule: Mon to Fri, Every other weekend, Holidays. Must be dependable and follow directions.
*Time and half on weekends!*
Luther Manor Nursing & Retirement Facility is a skilled-nursing facility located in Hannibal, MO. We are currently looking for an addition to our Housekeeping & Laundry department! Your purpose is to clean and maintain the facility to ensure that it meets all housekeeping sanitation requirements. You will provide a comfortable space for our residents and employees.
Housekeeping/Laundry Job Description:
- Compassion for our residents and the ability to work as a team with other aides
- Assist the Director of Housekeeping and other Housekeeping/Laundry Aides
- Perform daily housekeeping or laundry functions as assigned
- Dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures
- Cleaning and sanitizing toilets, showers/bathtubs, counter tops and sinks
- Maintaining a clean and sanitary dining area for residents and staff
- Changing linens and making beds in resident rooms
- Washing windows
- Vacuuming and cleaning carpeted areas
- Sweeping/vacuuming, polishing and mopping hard floors
- Use of cleaning equipment such as vacuums, mops and other cleaning tools
- Keeping bathrooms stocked with clean linens, toiletries and other supplies
- Cleaning mirrors and other glass surfaces
- Emptying trash receptacles and disposing of any waste
- Monitoring cleaning supplies
- Collect, sort and weigh soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc., place in appropriate containers in assigned areas
- Sort soiled items requiring stain removal/treatment
- Press/iron garments as requested
- Fold, count, stack hang and distribute laundry, linen, garments, etc., to residents as directed
- Report unidentified articles of clothing to Director of Housekeeping in loss prevention.
- Review laundry complaints/grievances and make verbal/written reports to the Director of Housekeeping
- Keep assigned work area(s) clean, safe, comfortable, professional and free of hazardous objects
- Maintain infection control and universal precautions when performing laundry procedures
- Coordinate routine/terminal isolation procedures with nursing services
- Follow and remain up to date on any and all fire/disaster safety guidelines
- Ensure equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of every shift
- Practice proper hand washing and self-sanitation after coming into contact with soiled items
- Report observations concerning equipment wear, defects and malfunctioning to Director of Housekeeping
- Report all self-accidents/incidents, regardless of how minor they may be, to Director of Housekeeping
Housekeeping Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Knowledge and experience in cleaning and sanitizing rooms and objects to meet requirements
- Willingness to learn new cleaning methods and how to use various pieces of equipment
- Ability to adapt to different situations and change work processes to accommodate the needs of residents and staff
- Thorough listening skills to ensure that needs are being met among residents and staff
- Proper communication and service skills
