Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant - Per Diem
The Lutheran Care Center at Poughkeepsie is currently seeking per diem Occupational Assistants to join our team.
Our rate is $31.00/hour!
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Treat all Occupational Therapy patients assigned by the Occupational Therapist. Treatment is to be based on the written treatment plan for each resident. Treatment areas and modalities will include upper extremity function, perception and cognition, ADL, crafts. Work independently or under supervision of the O.T.R.
- Discuss problems regarding patients and/or treatment with the O.T.R.
- Write progress notes, as indicated, to be reviewed and countersigned by the O.T.R. Collaborate with O.T.R. on notes when COTA and O.T.R treat patient.
- Coordinate treatment with O.T.R., physical therapists and nursing staff, where applicable.
- Assist in keeping daily attendance and treatment records. Assist in formulating monthly and annual statistics.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies and in ordering supplies.
- During O.T.R.’s absence, be in charge of the Occupational Therapy Department. Attend any meetings as required, as the OT representative.
- During O.T.R.’s absence, attend weekly patient care meetings, report on OT patients, and record treatment goals in patients’ charts.
- Attend all pertinent in-service meetings.
- Assist in presenting OT in-service.
- All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited school offering COTA program.
- New York State certification and current registration required.
- Previous experience as COTA preferred.
